Leptirica is a personal project based on the Serbian vampire legend of Sava Savanovic, who owned a lucrative watermill in a village called Zarozje before becoming a vampire in the 1700s. Years later, a young man named Strahinja takes over the watermill to earn money and raise his social status so he can marry Radojka, a rich girl.
